An exhibition based magazine dedicated to diasporic untold stories.

Pronounced soul-mender, the name of the magazine references the animal, the salamander, and its mythological meaning. Thought to be living in fire, the legend of the fireproof animal was quickly associated with a motto: “Nutrisco et extinguo” / “I nourish and extinguish”.

Similarly to the myth, Sal:mender magazine, is a platform that mends the soul of its readers through creativity. Feeding ourselves from the good fire, and extinguishing the bad one.

A creative space for artists and audiences, to connect through shared stories.

We’ve created this platform to rethink the way exhibitions work, by making them more intimate through  an active participation of the audience. We wanted to have a creative space for children of the diaspora to connect through shared stories. We’re hoping to show how art can also help us in the understanding of ourselves, and our everyday.

Our mission is to share diasporic stories & memories, and understand how they can help us navigate the world better. Each of our issue is an exhibition, based on a research question. Through our work, we hope to gather a multicultural community of creatives, and create conversations between the artworks, the artists, and the audience.
